4 out of 5 stars Turns single into double but is a bit tight for backseat child   April 27, 2010

Baby jogger is a great stroller, and the jump seat is useful for manuevering places the bob dually won't go, like the mall and grocery store.
However, there is very little clearance between the jump seat and the main seat. We had to rig up a piece of pvc to get enough room for the backseat childs legs, and she's fairly skinny for a 2.5 yr old.
Don't bother getting the canopy for it. It's not the quality you would expect from babyjogger.

4 out of 5 stars My perfect double stroller   December 4, 2009

After researching doubles for 6 months, I finally ordered the Baby Jogger City Classic... specifically because 1. The handle is marvelously adjustable for a 6' 4" dad and 2. The single stroller seemed easy to convert into a double with the jump seat. I bought them crossing my fingers it would work - and fell in love as soon as I pushed around 5 different-sized kids to test it out.

It seems to be the smallest folding front/back double out there (no others, including P&Ts or Maclarens, would fit into the back of our Expedition). The jump seat does have to be removed before folding, but that takes an extra 10 seconds and with a one-step stroller fold, the trunk is closed within 30 seconds anyway.

With the jump seat canopy, both kids are pretty well covered in rain and snow, although jump seat kid's legs do need extra pants in winter since there isn't a rest or wind-block to help. Size-wise, I tried the 4yo in the jump seat and he fit fine, but it made the stroller top heavy and more prone to tipping (like all the other front-back doubles I've ever had). Just means chunky toddlers thighs won't get pinched coming out and 3T+ kids need to be behind. The jump seat is really low to where the rear kid's legs hang down, but our 4yo is still comfy in back although he'll only last a few more months with the tandem seat attached.

After 6 kids in 9 years we've gone through a handful of doubles. Biggest past stroller problems were folding size (taken care of), tipability (BJ will tip if a 4yo climbs out with an 18m in front and catches a Toy Story boot on the side - yesterday's adventure), and steering (BJ is a one-handed joy to turn even with a 72 pounder). The back of the jump seat makes it hard for the rear passenger to see out front, but hasn't been a problem because there are still side views. Smaller babies can go in back although there's not a lot of space between the sunshade and the back of the jump seat. I'm ok with that, because if the baby isn't sleeping I stick the diaper bag into the back seat and carry the baby around in a wrap, anyway.

I rated it a 4 because of minor technicalities, but the system overall deserves a standing ovation. No bottom bumping for the back passenger (like the P&T), no tipping (3 times the first week Graco), and two hands aren't needed to get the thing moving (the other 4 front/backs I've tried).
