Product Description
The Kooper has all the features that you have come to expect from a Joovy such as a huge removable canopy with sun visor, and a large accessible storage basket. The Kooper's 1680D ultra premium fabric is as pleasing to the touch as to the eye while being ultra durable. One-hand, infinite positioning recline seat, two cup holders and zippered pocket, and four quick release wheels are just a few features to make parents' lives a little easier. Ergonomic deluxe foam handles, all aluminum frame, and front suspension add to the solid feel of the stroller. Baby is secure and comfortable in a five-point harness with three shoulder-height anchor points, two mesh pockets in the seat and cushioned shoulder pads. Baby can enjoy the stroller from 6 months to 50 pounds. The Kooper features a compact, traditional 3-dimensional umbrella fold for quick easy storage. It weighs in at only 17.9 pounds and meets the most rigorous product safety testing standards for the industry.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome compact stroller - even for a large-size child!   August 22, 2010
Candace Barbato (Brooklyn, NY)
I had very specific needs when looking at an umbrella-type stroller:

1) It had to fit in my very compact car (Beetle)
2) It had to support my large 1yo (30lbs!) well, so that his legs weren't askew, and he could almost recline flat for naps

After meeting those criteria, here's what else is awesome about the Joovy Kooper:

1) Enormous sun shade with peek-a-boo window
2) Good-size basket
3) Roomy rear zippered pouch and cup-holder (ok, cup-holder is not that great since they're mesh pockets, but it's a nicer amenity than many much higher-end strollers offer)
4) Durable, quality material
5) Front wheels can easily be removed and put back on to be even more compact
6) 5-point harness and padded straps provide a very good sense of stability/security
7) Multi-position recline with easy to maneuver adjustable strap

Here are some foreseeable shortcomings:

1) Handlebars do not telescope - I'm only 5'3, but I could see this being a possible problem for much taller folks
2) No kick-stand to help it stay upright
3) No carrying strap (or maybe I haven't figured this out yet?)
4) 17lbs. weight could be hefty for some people

I love this stroller! Our "main" stroller is an Uppa Baby Vista, and I can say that this pleases me almost as much for it's size and value. We originally had an Uppa Baby G-Luxe for my needs, and our son literally outgrew the straps/size of the stroller. The tipping point was when he almost literally tipped forward pushing himself up in the stroller. I have no reservations recommending this stroller to anyone!

4 out of 5 stars Great stroller!   March 11, 2010

We've had this stroller now for about a month and I have to say I'm pretty impressed with it. We also have a BOB and needed something a little less major to take to the mall/ store etc... It's definitely filled this need. I LOVE how stylish it looks... we have it in the red color and I'm very happy with this choice- it's not too bright like some of the other color choices. Although the brown color is nice too- if you're looking for something really low profile. This stroller looks expensive but doesn't come with the huge price tag like some of the others in the same category. Another concern of mine was hitting the back of the wheels when you walk... I'm 5'8 and the joovy is great- I don't hit the back of the wheels and the handles are high enough for me so I'm not slouching over to push it.
A few things I'm not too crazy about... the lever to stop the wheels seems to get stuck and I have to sometimes reach down to unlock it... it may be because the stroller is fairly new and I have to break it in a little bit. It's not a big deal but that's the reason I took off one star.
Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase and would recommend it!

5 out of 5 stars I love the Kooper more then my Maclaren!!!!   March 6, 2010

I am writing to let parents know that the Joovy Kooper stroller is awesome!!! I have the Volo Maclaren and it has nothing on the Kooper!!! If you are looking for a light weight stroller that can with stand anything then this is the stroller for you! The price is awesome too :-)

5 out of 5 stars Exactly what I wanted!   February 15, 2010

Sold my Macleran Volo for the Kooper. Its such a neat little stroller. I can hang a diaper bag off the back and have grocery bags hanging off of each handle and remove my child from the stroller without it tipping over backwards! Couldnt do that with the Volo. It folds easy, fabric is nice, rolls very smoothly. Couple cons are the cup holders are useless unless you have very small drinks and the lock is a pain the butt. Should have made it out of a hard plastic that automatically locks rather than the rubber that you have to pry on and off the little bolt. Even with those problems, its awesome.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Umbrella-type stroller   February 5, 2010

After much debate and research, and going back and forth, we opted for the Joovy Kooper when we got rid of our Chicco travel system. It just came the other day, and I was able to put it together BY MYSELF (no tools or husband necessary) in less than 10 minutes.

It is extremely sturdy, not wobbly at all. The sunshade is ridiculously huge...can't wait to use it if the sun ever comes out here (middle of winter in Chicago!), and it retracts in stages so you don't have to have it ALL the way forward if you don't want to. There is actually a suspension in the back wheels, which we were pleasantly surprised to find once we got the stroller, as I didn't recall seeing that in any of the descriptions (we actually ordered the stroller from another website that had a 15% discount and free shipping). There are also 2 mesh pockets on the inside of the stroller so baby can keep a small item or two there, another pleasant surprise. The fabric is thick and sturdy and the straps are easy to adjust and buckle. I found you can also briefly push the stroller with one hand and have it go in a straight line, which is often hard to do w/ these types of strollers. I am 5'2" and my husband is 5'8", so the kicking the wheels doesn't seem to be a problem for us, as I've seen with some other reviews. I had my diaperbag and purse both hanging from the handles and the stroller was just as sturdy and straight. It folds relatively easily and while on the heavy side, it's much less awkward to hoist into an SUV than the full size stroller we had.

There are a couple of minor drawbacks, and you have to decide how important these are to you (obviously, they weren't deal-killers for us):
1. As with any umbrella-type stroller, you lose the capacity to use the stroller as your personal cupholder/bag holder/general dumping ground for coats etc. when you're at the mall with the family. The cupholders are a tad small (on the back of the sunshade), but they do adequately fit baby's bottle (we use a wide neck bottle) or a 16oz bottle of water. I think they'll be better used to hold keys/cell phone/snacks so it's not really a complaint.

2. The footrest does not go up and down, as it does with the Keekaroo Karoo (another stroller we researched). This may bother some babies but not others. Ours seems to be just fine in it.

3. The footbrakes take some getting used to. They're a little stiff, but they do work just fine. It is nice that you can just do one side and both wheels brake. Same with unlocking the wheels.

Overall, we're very pleased with this product and are glad we purchased it! If anything changes we'll update again.
