2 out of 5 stars I wanted to like this.   July 28, 2010

I had high hopes for this stroller. After reading reviews on Amazon and other sites, I thought this would be a good stroller for me. I currently use the Bugaboo Frog but I needed a more compact stroller for our monthly trip to Disneyland. Easy to put together, all I needed to do was to snap the front wheels on and attach the cup holder. My 7 1/2 month old fit nicely inside. Everything was fine until I collapsed the stroller and the left latch came off! My husband tried to put it back together but was unable to. Of course we sent it right back the first day we received it. Beware of the latch!! It's too bad since I really like the look of this stroller and it folded nicely. I hope that this was only a problem on my stroller. I ended up getting a Maclaren Volo.

2 out of 5 stars Numerous flaws   July 9, 2010

We bought this stroller to replace a MacLaren that was lost by our airline. (Would have bought the same MacLaren, but they had just been recalled over a safety issue.) This one is tough to manuever with one hand; after several months of use, the child's footrest began to drag against the wheels (making it even more difficult to push); AND the brakes are poorly positioned so that it is easy to kick them into lock position by accident. I recommend seeking out another model.

4 out of 5 stars Great for City Trips but no recline. good for what it is.   July 4, 2010

I have an UppaBaby Vista for everyday and love it, so I got the G-Lite for shorter trips, mainly travel. I love how light it is, and easy to carry with the carry-strap. It's easy to fold and carry up and down stairs. However, we've realized that we now need to buy another stroller for travel, because the G-Lite doesn't have recline.

The 7 lb weight is simply amazing, but the stroller doesn't look cheap. It looks high-tech with its aluminum frame and bright colors. The sunshade is great, really covering the baby. And the fold, while two handed, is easy to do while holding the baby on my hip. Also, thank you, Uppa, for adding a cupholder to this model.

This stroller, however, sacrifices some features for its lightness. You will not have a tray (not a problem for us), or any cushy strap-covers or pillows. Also, for us, the big problem is that it doesn't recline. We should have thought more about the G-Luxe, but we figured we'd use the Vista for day-long journeys. Rather, when you travel and can't pack the Vista (or don't want to lug it in and out of the subway), the G-Luxe would have been a better choice. Also, like all umbrella strollers, you shouldn't take your child out while the diaper bag is slung on the handles, as it will fall over.

You see, we just took the G-Lite to NYC for the day. It was great, with its kickstand, to fold up on the subway. Slung over my shoulder, it was easy to carry up the narrow stairs at some of the stations. We could fold it up at restaurants. The underside basket is a little small but we were able to store a small bag down there. However, the problem came in that my child could not nap in this stroller. We had him all around Germany in a Teutonia, which reclines all the way like a bed, and he just took naps in it. So we thought we'd have no problem on vacation in New York. But with this stroller, he either lolled forward, or his head lay on the folding mechanism. He slept very poorly and was in a terrible mood as a result. We are now looking at other umbrella strollers with recline, like the Mac Quest and Uppa G-Luxe for our travel stroller. Meanwhile, we will definitely keep the G-Lite in our trunks for quick mall jaunts.

5 out of 5 stars love it - well worth the money   June 25, 2010
shopper (chicago, il)
We love this stroller. It is well worth the extra money. It is light, attractive, has a bit of storage, and folds easily. It has a great shoulder strap for carrying -- I carry it up and down 3 flights of stairs, daily, while I'm holding my one-year old and a diaper bag. Unlike the UPPAbaby vista, which we also have, this one has a foot lock that is easy to work. The harness is very easy to use. My only complaint: the cup holder broke off of mine. But to be fair, I dropped the stroller on its side (without the baby in it!) I highly recommend this stroller.

5 out of 5 stars Best Lightweight Stroller Out There   June 16, 2010
Ralf Kircher (Bangkok, Thailand)
For us, it was between the Maclaren Volo and this. Because these were short of stock when we were shopping, we actually bought the Maclaren and then found at the last minute we could order this, so we were able to test them side by side, decide which was best and return one. It was very, very close. We went with the Uppababy because is stood when folded and because of the padding -- but the Maclaren looks a bit more upscale, the braking system seems a bit better, and the wheels appeared a bit more durable. We've since found in use that there's no beating the Uppababy. It has an ingenious seatbelt buckle that's incredibly easy to use and will never pinch our little guy. It handles with just two fingers. It's as comfortable for me (5'10") to push as it is for my wife (5'0"). The sun shade can completely cover our son if necessary. All in all, it would be really tough to improve on this stroller. One pretty neat thing about this also is that when you register the warranty, you get an e-mail back (automated, of course) from a person with a name and an e-mail address that goes directly to her. It's a small thing -- that I'll hopefully never use -- but it gives an idea of the type of company you're dealing with. When trying to locate one of these, and they were on back order everywhere, I'd e-mailed the company asking when and where I might find one, and there again, I received a personal response (this one not automated) from a person with a name who gave me the info I needed. Great product from what appears to be a great company.
